Japanese Fude makeup brushes are true treasures, and if looked after correctly, can last for many years. For instructions on washing and storage, we recommend following the instructions on our blog, which was developed in consultation with brush artisans.

Some brands are available for engraving. Please contact support@fudebeauty.com with your inquiry.

All brushes sold on our website are authentic Japanese Fude, handmade by artisans in Japan.

Although a large proportion of brushes are made in the Kumano region of Japan, in Hiroshima prefecture, not all brushes are made there—so these brands will not use the Kumanofude sticker. In addition to this, not all brands in Kumano are part of the Kumano association, due to the high costs of being a member. Regardless of whether your brush packages have the Kumanofude sticker or not, they are guaranteed to be authentic Japanese fude handmade by artisans in Japan.

DISCOUNTS

We generally don't do storewide sales. Instead, we try to keep our products competitively prices year-round, and have a Loyalty Program where customers can earn points for discounts. Sure, if your friend is happy to pass on their discount code, that's fine with us. Sharing is caring! We'll just need written confirmation from your friend (a simple 'I gave my discount code to [name] and approve them to use it for their purchase') is plenty.

Personal purchases using a discount code will void the affiliate commission for that order.

SHIPPING + orders

As long as your order hasn't shipped, you are able to edit it. Please contact support@fudebeauty.com with your request.

If you wish to make changes to your order, we recommend an editing request, as to cancel and then reorder would incur the ¥1,000 cancellation fee.

After your order is confirmed, your order will ship within 5 business days, unless otherwise stated on the product page. Please check the list of Japanese public & Fude workshop holidays below, as these are not business days.

Occasionally, there are hold-ups in the warehouses due to demand, and in this case, we will notify you.

DHL and FedEx do not ship to bases or PO Boxes

DHL is typically the fastest shipping option

DHL and FedEx may result in higher taxes and duties fees (you can find more on Taxes and Duties below)

Please note:

Customers in Russia will need a business address to ship to, as required of DHL.

If a customer is in a remote location that requires extra shipping fees to be paid by Fude Beauty to DHL/FedEx, then these fees will need to be covered by the customer.

You may be subject to import taxes and duties on delivery, depending on your country. The threshold of duties and taxes also varies between countries. While these fees are not reimbursed by Fude Beauty, we can provide a discount for future purchases if the taxes you incur on one purchase exceeds ¥3,000.

Sure! If you have a friend living nearby and you want to split the shipping cost from Japan, that's a great idea. Just reach out to us at support@fudebeauty.com to arrange this. Please note that higher-priced orders may be subject to taxes and duties, so be sure to check the rates for your country. Fude Beauty does not cover taxes and duties, but if you are charged these, please send us the receipt as proof and we will offer you a discount on your next purchase.

Once your order is shipped, you should receive a shipping confirmation with a link to track your order. You can track your order from this page. If you have any inquiries, please contact us at support@fudebeauty.com

If an unauthorized person signs for your package, or if you opt to leave your delivery unattended and it goes missing, Fude Beauty is not responsible for these missing packages.

Please file a theft report to the local office of DHL/FedEx, depending on the carrier selected during checkout. Once you have the report, please email support@fudebeauty.com so we can also file a complaint.

We can offer a small compensation up to a maximum of ¥15,000 + shipping fee paid. 

We're so sorry to hear that your order is not what you purchased! >.< We are a small team of humans, and sometimes (rarely, but sometimes) these errors occur. Please provide a photo of any incorrect item and send it to support@fudebeauty.com 

Orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of the order being placed, unless the order has already shipped. Cancellations require a fee of ¥1,000.

If you receive your order wish to return it, this is possible as long as all brushes are unopened and in as-new condition. Customers will be responsible for covering the return fees and will receive a refund once the package has been received by Fude Beauty.

REWARDS PROGRAM

This is our way of showing our appreciation for shopping with us and engaging with our brand and products! You’ll earn points for activities on our site, like referrals and purchases. You can use them to earn discounts off purchases, so the more you collect the more you save.

Anyone! A loyalty account will be created for you as soon as you create a shop account, and you can start earning points right away. 

You can earn points for all sorts of activities, including referring friends, and making purchases. To see all the ways you can earn points visit the Rewards program page.

Your point balance is displayed on the launcher (bottom right-hand side of the screen) once your login, as well as on the Rewards program page.

Select the tab called Redeem Points. Here you’ll see all the rewards we offer. If you have enough points, you can redeem them for a reward.

Yes, points will expire after 1 year if they are not used.

Yes, coupons expire 1 year after claimed if they are not used. The expection is coupons redeemed through campaigns, which may have shorter expiry dates. Please chck the terms of each campaign.

This depends on the reward. For a ¥500 voucher, there is a ¥5,000 minimum purchase; for a ¥1,000, the minimum purchase is ¥10,000; for a ¥2,000 voucher, the minimum purchase is ¥20,000; for a ¥3,000 voucher, the minimum purchase is ¥30,000. For a ¥4,000 voucher, the minimum purchase is ¥40,000. For a ¥5,000 voucher, the minimum purchase is ¥50,000.

It can sometimes take a few minutes for us to process your activity and provide your points.

You can receive 150 points per review, for a maximum of 2 reviews per month.

Please note, the purpose of reviews is to help other customers make informed decisions about products, and to help us improve our service. They should therefore specify at least one of (1) a feature of the product's design (2) how you use the product (3) your service experience with Fude Beauty. If they don't meet at least one of these criteria, your points may be retracted. 

Not directly - please redeem your points for a coupon which can then be applied during checkout.

Discounts are limited to one per checkout.

Each customer has a unique referral code in their Rewards Program account. Once you sign in, open the Rewards Program launcher from the bottom right-hand side of your screen and scroll down to 'Referrals'.

If a customer uses your referral code for their purchase with Fude Beauty, they will receive a discount of ¥2,000 and you will receive a ¥2,000 discount coupon. This coupon will be accessible through your Rewards Program screen.

Please note, the customer's order must be minimum value of ¥20,000 to receive the discount and for you to receive the coupon. It is also only valid for customers' first purchase with Fude Beauty.

If you no longer wish to earn points, please contact us and ask to be unenrolled. We'll unenroll you and you will lose any points you have accrued.

Just contact us and we'll re-enroll you. However, your point total will begin from zero.

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

If you think there's a fault in your product, please contact us at support@fudebeauty.com with a photo and description of the issue as soon as possible and we'll be in touch right away. 

Please note, due to the handmade nature of Japanese Fude brushes, returns and exchanges are not always possible.

If it is decided that the brush will be returned, the customer must pay shipping charges and will receive a refund once the brush arrives back to Fude Beauty.

We sometimes get asked about brush shedding. While this can be alarming to see a few strands come loose from your precious Fude brushes, most of the time this is entirely normal. When the brush makers have finished making a brush, it is rolled on tape to pick up any loose bristles. However, due to the handmade nature of the brushes,  sometimes not all excess bristles are picked up. These are the ones that might come out when it's new in your hands.

The recommendations, from Yutaro Takemori, third-generation Chikuhodo artisan, are to:

Not be alarmed unless this continues over several weeks, or is a significant amount of bristles. Keep deep cleaning of your brushes to a minimum, especially the more delicate fibres. Instead, have a regular practice of remove any excess product on the brushes by tapping them and gently wipe them clean with soft tissue or cloth. Do not rub the bristle too hard during this process as it could damage the hairs and cause them to shed.

A note on the fibres:

Goat hair is the more hardy of the bristle fibres, if you're looking for durabilityAvoid using the more delicate brushes (such as silver fox and gray squirrel) with tougher makeupSynthetic and natural-synthetic blends tend to be more durable

In the words of Takemori-san:

"It's the same thing as with clothes - if you have a T-shirt from Uniqlo, you can wash it very easily; but it's more difficult to wash a cashmere sweater, as it's very delicate."

If you would like to return your full or part, this is possible if you (1) Contact Fude Beauty within 1 month of receiving your order (2) The brushes will need to be in their new, unopened state.

Customers returning their orders will be required to cover the shipping costs and will receive a refund once the brushes are received by Fude Beauty.

The same applies for exchanges. If there is a difference in cost for the exchange, this will need to be covered by the customer. If the new brush is less, a refund will be issued. In either case, shipping for the new brush will need to be covered by the customer.
