Koyudo Premium Series reviewed by Alicia Archer (aka Kinkysweat)
If you're new to Koyudo, or looking to expand your Koyudo collection, the Premium Series offers a set of brushes on the higher-end of the spectrum. Bristles are a blend of gray squirrel and sokoho goat, for a plush softness but with a little bit extra body than straight squirrel, the color scheme is elegant monochrome with just a hint of pink in the logo. Handles are short, which are perfect for more control in application, for travel, and are just super-cute.
But that's enough from us, we contacted Alicia Archer (aka Kinkysweat) for her insights and advice on using the Koyudo Premium Series. As always, you can expect an informative and entertaining video! Koyudo Premium Series Powder Brush, P-1
What Alicia says: “It just moves on the skin, the glide is amazing, it feels plush. It actually reminds me of my Chikuhodo FO Series brushes.”
Recommended for: Powder foundation, loose powder, to set foundation, as a bigger bronzer brush, tapping on light brush.
Koyudo Premium Series Cheek Brush, P-2
[This brush was also featured in Alicia's Cheek Brush Comparison Video. We recommend also checking it out for a deep-dive into this cheek brush and other favorites.]
Recommended for: Loose powder for more spots that need more coverage, bronzer, contouring, tapping on blush, adding blush into hollows of the face.
Koyudo Premium Series Fan Brush, P-3
What Alicia says: “It looks a little underwhelming online, but after you wash it, it just blooms perfectly... this highlighter brush is fun! Look how beautiful that places the highlight - just where you need it.”
Recommended for: Set concealer with loose powder, pressed powder.
Koyudo Premium Series Large Eyeshadow Brush, P-4
What Alicia says: “This is your quintessential one-and-done brush - it’s flat enough to pick up the product, but fluffy enough to turn on its side and blur those edges.”
Recommended for: As well as eye makeup tasks, try it for more precision highlights, when you want a more concentrated application of color.
Koyudo Premium Series Eyeshadow Brush, P-5
What Alicia says: "This brush is incredibly soft.. wow, and it just fits into the different portions of the eye - inner part of the eye, covers the lid well, blends out the crease well. Don’t be fooled just because it looks like a fluffy shader… it tapers midway, so the flexible tip allows for that blend."
Recommended for: A one-and-done brush for smaller eyes.
Thank you, Alicia!
