This Face Brush is part of Koyudo's limited-edition collection, the collection is a luxurious masterpiece by the skilled Koyudo artisans.
The brushes feature densely packed bristles of the softest, highest level goat hair: saibikoho. Saibikoho is prized for its silky texture and shine, and its ability to create a nature lustre on the skin.
The handle is made from cherry birch wood, finished with traditional Makie lacquer techniques, imbuing them with a sense of sophistication. The cherry blossom Makie pattern is hand-painted by the artist Shoichiro Oshita, to give it a luxurious feel.
The Sakura (Cherry Blossom) motif is a national flower of Japan, and a highly auspicious symbol meaning 'wealthiness and the beginning of new things'. According to an ancient definition, 'sa' in cherry blossom means 'the god of the rice field and the spirit of the grain', and 'kura' means 'a place where the god is' – therefore, 'sakura' has been regarded as a symbol of harvest abundance and good fortune.

God of goat hair
OKAY so I have a lot things to say about this brush. First of all, saibikoho is undeniably the softest goat hair available. It has the the softness of squirrel hair but firmness of a goat. Which is why it’s not as prone to breakage or hair snapping. In terms of finish, it applies powder like a dream. It is best for loose or pressed powder, to set your skin. For powder foundation, it looks insanely natural and you can bluff ppl to think your (makeup) is real skin. BUT when I used it for the first time, 10+ hairs were coming out the ferrule!! -.- For a $400+ brush nothing like that should happen right??! That’s my only gripe with the brush. Hope it does not shed any further otherwise not worthwhile for the expensive price tag.
Love this collection
The amount of hair they packed in this brush is quite incredible, especially for rare hair like the Saibikoho. The size of the big brush is the same as the Beautylish hachiko brush, and similar density. The hair is soft but it’s never going to be as soft as squirrel so take note of that before getting this one. It’s even a bit translucent at the tip and not as white as the usual Saikoho. The design is simply beautiful and very well and carefully crafted
As my first saibikoho brush, I don't know what to expect when I order this. It's so beautiful and extremely soft as a goat brush. Squirrel is still the softest but this is on par with squirrel - just amazing!
